The Orchestra is open to all studying and recently graduated musicians up to the age of 25, who are UK residents (or studying in the UK) and who are not yet working full time in the profession.

We hold auditions every two years for strings, wood wind, brass and percussions and approach all the UK universities, colleges and the music conservatoires inviting musicians to apply.

Additional strings auditions are held every year and string players may apply at anytime.

The next round of full auditions will be in October 2010 Existing members are invited to re-apply.

However, if you are interested in applying to join the orchestra and it is not currently audition-time, please fill in our online application form, particularly if you are a string player, as subject to an audition you may be able to join the orchestra during the year.

If you are successful in securing an audition, you will be asked to perform two short contrasting pieces, one of which should be accompanied (an accompanist will be available) as well as some prepared excerpts and sight reading. The audition will last about 15 minutes.
