Our next concert is less than a week to go, and we are really looking forward to working with British mezzo-soprano Lily Mo Browne🎶
Winner of the 70th Kathleen Ferrier award, Lily Mo Browne is a 25-year-old mezzo-soprano from East London. She is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Music, London, and is a 2025/2026 Young Artist at the National Opera Studio, London studying under Ben Johnson. She is generously supported by the Drake Calleja Trust and Lionel and Marylynn Anthony.
Lily recently debuted the roles of Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and made her international debut as Filippyevna in Eugene Onegin at the Verbier Festival as an Academie Lyrique Young Artist. In 2026, she will join soprano Sonja Yoncheva and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for their concert performance and recording of Dvořák’s Rusalka as the Third Wood Nymph.
An avid recitalist, Lily has performed recitals with the London Song Festival, Hurn Court Opera, Luton Music Club and Somerset Song, alongside pianists Roger Vignoles, James Baillieu and Simon Lepper, and will join Iain Burnside and Iain Tindale next year for two recitals at the Ludlow English Song Weekend. She is thrilled to make her Cadogan Hall debut performing Elgar’s Sea Pictures with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra in March 2026. She has taken part in masterclasses with Dame Sarah Connolly, Roderick Williams OBE, Barbara Frittoli, Kate Lyndsey and Thomas Hampson. More notable competition success includes 3rd prize at the Junior Ferrier competition in 2019, 1st prize at the Somerset Song Prize, where she also received the Audience Prize, 1st prize in the AESS’s Patricia Routledge Senior Song Prize, and the Sarah Harrison Prize in Hurn Court Opera’s Singer of the Year competition. Lily was awarded with the Laurus Florentiae in Florence in 2025, where she also won the award for the Best Performance of an Italian Aria.

In its second concert of 2026, the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra returns to Cadogan Hall for an evening of music by Tchaikovsky, Elgar, and Stravinsky 🎶
The evening opens with Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien, a work inspired by the sunny skies and folk tunes of Italy. Next, YMSO is joined by mezzo-soprano Lily Mo Browne in Elgar’s Sea Pictures, from the gentle rocking of “Sea Slumber-Song” to the thundering “white horses” of “The Swimmer,” capturing every mood of the ocean in one breathtaking cycle 🌊
The second half of the concert features Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. Under the direction of conductor James Blair, the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra dives into the world of Prince Ivan and the magical bird that shatters the spells of the immortal Koschei 🐦🔥

We’re very excited to welcome our fantastic soloist, Kryštof Kohout 🎻
Kryštof Kohout is an award-winning Czech violinist, praised for his profound artistry, expressive virtuosity and dynamic performances as a captivating soloist and insightful chamber musician. Performing widely across Europe and the US, recent highlights include his Carnegie Hall debut recital, Musikverein Vienna, Konzerthaus Berlin, and Zeneakadémia Budapest, as well as festivals such as the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Edinburgh International Festival.
Kryštof is a laureate of the Bartók World Competition, a recipient of the Musicians‘ Company Silver Medal, and he was recently selected as the sole instrumentalist to join the prestigious Classeek Ambassador Programme. A passionate chamber musician, Kryštof is a founding member of the Fibonacci Quartet, winners of both First and Audience Prizes at the 2024 Premio Paolo Borciani Competition. The Quartet have been selected as YCAT artists, Grands Residents at ProQuartet, and Britten Pears Young Artists.
This season sees Kryštof perform concertos with the BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, South Czech Philharmonic, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, along with recital debuts at Wigmore Hall and Bridgewater Hall. Upcoming chamber performances take him to Berlin Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris, and the Aldeburgh Festival.
Kryštof studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with David Takeno and has also received an International Artist Diploma from the Royal Northern College of Music. He performs on a Gennaro Gagliano violin, generously loaned to him by the Tompkins Tate Musical Instrument Trust. Kryštof is generously supported by the Drake Calleja Trust, Hattori Foundation, Velehrad Trust, Countess of Munster Trust and the Comenium Musicum Scholarship.

The evening opens with Chabrier’s España, a lively work brimming with rhythm and dance. Next, YMSO is joined by Czech violinist Kryštof Kohout in Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, an intimate yet powerful work that balances the virtuosic demands of the soloist with the powerful presence of the orchestra 💃
The second half of the concert features Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Under the direction of conductor James Blair, the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra presents this monumental work that established Elgar as the leading British composer of his generation 🎻
